Steve began his career in advancement first at University of Puget Sound and later at Charles Wright Academy before moving into the world of healthcare fundraising. As a Major Gifts Officer at MultiCare Health System, he worked at both MultiCare Good Samaritan Foundation and Mary Bridge Children’s Foundation securing both major and planned gifts over nearly six years.Â
He now serves as Philanthropy Advisor at Greater Tacoma Community Foundation where he works with nonprofits looking to start funds to support their organizations and to improve their planned giving programs. In addition, he works with donors to explore ways to maximize their philanthropic impact from creating a Donor Advised Fund to involving the next generation in giving.Â
In addition, Steve is an Associate with Thompson & Associates providing values-based estate planning support to non-profits around the country. Steve is certified as a CAP (Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy) through The American College of Financial Services, IPA (Impact Philanthropy Advisor) through Daylight and FCEP (Fellow in Charitable Estate Planning) from the Charitable Estate Planning Institute.Â
Steve spends much of his free time with his spouse and four kids rooting for Northwest sports teams, playing board games and exploring the natural wonder of the Pacific Northwest. When he has a chance to work from home, you may find him up in the tree house he built in his backyard “for the kids.”Â
