Testimonials

"The new book by Sharna Goldseker and Michael Moody won’t be a classic someday. It is. Now. Their book is all about now and giving and this generation that, right before our very eyes, emerged from being the ‘next generation’ to what Goldseker and Moody reveal is the ‘now generation’—that generation with the intellectual, human, and financial capital needed to tackle the massive challenges confronting the planet, the country, and their own backyards. The Goldseker/Moody approach to telling the stories of these givers and this new age of giving is fresh and creative: at once inspirational and how to, heartening, and instructive. For families, emerging philanthropists, and old pros trying to disrupt themselves, this book is a lantern in dark times, a light in the world we are all trying to fathom—and fix."

“Generation Impact is THE defining resource on the subject of how this rising generation is transforming philanthropy. Sharna and Michael’s deep command of their material and their nuanced insights about who these donors are, why they give, and how they envision creating the world they want to live in will inspire the listener with fresh ideas and hope for what is possible. Amongst all the terabytes of material out there about “Next Gen” giving, Generation Impact is the only one that is consistently in my “must read” list of recommendations.”

"The updated edition of Generation Impact comes at a critical juncture for the increasingly complex and uncertain times we’re living in. The world has changed dramatically since it first came out only a few years ago, and the new preface offers an important ‘sense-making’ perspective about how next gen donors are responding to societal upheavals and existential crises. The Best Practice Guides are provocative and insightful, as well as practical and realistic. I will be referring to them often as thedefinitive playbook for engaging next gen donors and changemakers as they rise to meet the moments of our time."

“I just have to let you know how much I loved your book. It’s been on my reading list for a long time but the timing is perfect for me right now. I’m working with an entrepreneur who says he wants to get his adult children involved with his two foundations, but their causes don’t make sense to him. In case he doesn’t read the whole book, I’m going to tag pages for him that really resonated with me. Thank you again for sharing such wisdom. And, for the training I enjoyed so many years ago—it resonates with me to this day. I just bought 10 books to have in my office to give to clients. I’m confident that they won’t last long and I’ll be buying more.”

About the Book

As “next gen donors” step into their philanthropic roles, they have not only unprecedented financial resources, but also big ideas for how to wield their financial power. They want to disrupt the traditional world of charitable giving, and they want to do so now, not after they retire to a life of philanthropic leisure.

Generation Impact: How Next Gen Donors Are Revolutionizing Giving pulls back the curtain on these rising next gen donors and the “Impact Revolution” they seek, offering extensive firsthand accounts and expert analysis of their hands-on, boundary-pushing strategies, as well as their determination to honor the legacies they’ve inherited and the values they hold.

The Updated and Expanded edition includes new, practical resources designed to help those who work with next gen donors to engage with them in even more productive and effective ways – to help them become the sort of transformational donors we all need them to be in this pivotal time. Three Best Practice Guides offer targeted tips for key audiences – nonprofits and fundraisers, families, and advisors – and introduce new data and additional featured donors. A new Preface answers the most pressing questions asked by the thousands of readers already energized by Generation Impact, including what has changed in the world in recent years and how these influential emerging donors are responding.

Adapting to the revolution that next gen donors are bringing may not be easy, but this book can help.
