For over two decades, 21/64 has had the privilege of guiding the next generation of donors, preparing 20-30-something individuals who bear the opportunity and responsibility of family philanthropy, so they can step into those roles as thoughtful stewards, using those philanthropic resources to make a difference where there is need. The Grand Street retreat is where so many of these journeys begin.

The Retreat

Grand Street is designed to be interactive and an off-the record exploration where the cohort can engage in profound conversations surrounding identity, philanthropy, family dynamics, and the intersections of these three. Our goal is to empower participants, equipping them with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to continue their conversations and explorations beyond the two-days of learning.

The retreat acts as a catalyst. By providing participants with a nurturing and supportive environment, the Grand Street retreat fosters personal growth, deepens understanding, and cultivates a sense of purpose among the cohort, ensuring participants leave the experience with a renewed sense of motivation and a strong foundation for their philanthropic journeys.

About Grand Street

Grand Street provides a space for individuals come together and explore their inherited legacy beyond wealth. Through off the record conversations and interactive exercises, participants will convene to clarify their philanthropic identities, develop a vision for their future and shape their philanthropic endeavors in alignment with their personal values and the rising needs of their communities. Participants who lean into the Grand Street opportunity find themselves realizing personal growth, professional opportunities, roles within family philanthropy, and leadership positions within the Jewish and secular not-for-profit realms.

Since 2002, 21/64 has been the trusted support system for next gen donors and inheritors. Grand Street, a program that draws its name from the historical roots of Jewish immigration in the Lower East Side of NYC, pays homage to the Jewish tradition of tzedakah, which embodies the concept of giving and means justice and the responsibility to uplift communities in need.

In our 21^st year of facilitating next gen donor learning cohorts, we have found that the peer-to-peer relationship aspect has consistently been a highlight and a valuable addition to the program. Founding members of the network took it upon themselves to identify the vision of Grand Street, which they articulate as follows:

• To build a network of young Jews in similar positions of philanthropic responsibility;
• To create a space where members can develop in the philanthropic realm with their peers and outside of their family; and,
• To invite participants to ask their own questions.

Ongoing Offerings

Grand Street is an ongoing opportunity, which in its twentieth cycle, continues to support members who began with us over two decades ago. Included in the Retreat is a follow-up call with 21/64 to reflect on your experience and think about next steps. After the Grand Street Retreat, members are welcome to participate in programming and network events at their leisure. 21/64 always provides an open door for personalized coaching, referrals, and support to all members.

• Webinars, programming and events – Have the option to participate in ongoing seminars, monthly webinars and discussions with experts on relevant and related subjects, such as fiduciary responsibility, giving plans, family dynamics and impact investing.
