Courageous Conversations

Description

In this time of rapid change and social reckoning, 21/64 and Simon Greer have created a new tool Courageous Conversations as part of our new training Courageous Conversations in Leadership.  This new tool gives users the capacity to extend ourselves across lines of difference, build common ground and find ways to savor the tension of honest disagreement. Rather than starting with issues, opinions, facts and figures, the Courageous Conversations tool begins with learning — about ourselves and our conversation partner. Learning upon whose shoulders we each stand, clarifying the values that motivate each of us, and sharing our lived experience allows us to begin a conversation with courage and compassion that moves the needle of change toward a more just world.

ABOUT SIMON GREER
Simon Greer has been a social change entrepreneur for 25 years. His Courageous Conversations project in partnership with The Nantucket Project and their collaboration on American Neighbor (2020), For The Common Good (2019), and Opening of the American Mind (2022) have helped spark the creation of this toolkit. Simon is the founder of Cambridge Heath Ventures (CHV), Bridging the Gap (BTG), Face to Face and Courageous Conversations.

ABOUT COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS IN LEADERSHIP
We at 21/64 know about creating awareness, catalyzing courage, creating safe space, active listening, and framing and facilitating discussions on difficult topics. In our new Courageous Conversations in Leadership training, the founder of Courageous Conversations, Simon Greer and his colleague Tina Grace will join 21/64 to bring this program to life, with tools from the Nantucket Project.  We are grateful for their collaboration and the 30 years of social justice, convening skills and lived experience as a person of color in America.
