Anyone who has been to a 21/64 training will probably remember the drawing of a venn diagram with SELF written in one circle and ROLE in the other. Our self and the role we play professionally are entwined, and it’s in the overlap where the magic happens. When we consciously choose the elements of ourselves to bring to the roles we play we can be extremely effective and fulfilled.
Right now I am choosing to focus on my role as a mother. In the past two years I had two little boys, one and half and 5 months. I’ve dreamed of these babies and I am taking a pause professionally to be with them, while they are babies, before I figure out what’s next on my journey.
I thought long and hard about what it means to step back from an organization I love, one that is thriving, growing, and run by an extraordinary team. It’s bittersweet to take this step. Of course I did a motivational values sort as I wrestled with the decision!
I’m so proud of the work we’ve done together. We’ve built dozens of tools for the field that catalyze important and difficult conversations about values, family, money, and legacy. The 21/64 Certified Advisor Network includes the most talented and thoughtful family advisors throughout the world. We’ve funded innovative nonprofits and partnered with truly inspiring organizations and philanthropists. And now the team is making great strides to diversify philanthropic impact.
I am profoundly grateful to Sharna Goldseker, Charles Bronfman, Danielle Oristian York, and our entire ACBP/ Chasbro/ 21/64 family through the years. It’s impossible to state the knowledge, skills, personal growth, joy, and lifelong relationships I’ve learned and gained over the years.
Family and balance were always valued here. Balance doesn’t mean doing everything at once, equally- it’s found by being intentional through the ebbs and flows of your life.
I am the person I am today because of 21/64 and will carry it forward with me, forever.
Sincerely,
Barbara
