Jonathan Crystal is the founder and Managing Partner of Crystal Venture Partners, a New York-based venture capital firm that provides first capital to founders remaking the industries built on risk. He founded the firm in 2022.

Previously, Jonathan was a principal of Crystal & Company, his family’s third-generation insurance brokerage and one of the 25 largest in the United States. As the firm’s Chief Financial Officer, he was responsible for its field and general operations, working directly with clients, carriers, and distribution partners, and guided the firm through its acquisition by Alliant Insurance Services in 2018.

Jonathan has presented to audiences across the country on topics of family risk management, including Attorneys for Family-Held Enterprises, Family Business Network, Family Firm Institute, Family Office Association, Family Office Exchange, and Institute for Private Investors. His perspective on insurance and AI has been featured in Fortune and PYMNTS and on podcasts including The Sure Shot Entrepreneur and the Leadership in Insurance Podcast, and he has written for Barron’s on insurance and housing affordability.

In addition to 21/64, Jonathan serves on the Boards of Trustees of The Jewish Museum and Central Synagogue. He is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, where he previously chaired the Gotham Chapter and served on the Executive Committee of its Global Family Business Network.

Jonathan began his professional career as a management consultant with Oliver Wyman, where he focused on risk management and strategy for financial institutions in Europe and North America. He graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Public and International Affairs and a minor in Latin American Studies.
