Navigating Grief

Grief is among the most universal human experiences, and one of the least spoken about, especially in professional settings. It is also a natural and enduring part of family life, one that shapes how people think about legacy, giving, and what they want to leave behind. For advisors working with donors and clients in times of loss, knowing when and how to approach those conversations can be both necessary and deeply uncertain.

On November 12, 21/64 is bringing these often-unspoken experiences into the conversation. We’ll hear from two individuals who confront grief in their lives and work.

Catherine Gund, Emmy-nominated and Academy-shortlisted producer, director, writer, and activist, will share how she is honoring her mother Agnes, and how creating those expressions of grief have helped Cat and her family navigate grief.

Marguerite Griffin, Philanthropic Advisor, Life-Cycle Celebrant, and End-of-Life Doula, will share how she makes space for grief in her work with clients, and what advisors can do to acknowledge the full humanity of loss while helping people move forward.

21/64 Founder, Sharna Goldseker, will facilitate this special conversation, which is open to Certified Advisors, clients of 21/64, donors in the Grand Street network, and colleagues within and beyond our community. This will be a space for learning and reflection, where we’ll explore how making room for grief can open pathways to deeper connection, meaning, and purpose.
