Community Approaches for a More Equitable and Loving World
Date: November 12, 2024, 1:00-2:30pm ET
At 21/64, we’ve always believed that identity is key to strategy. The family stories of hardships and joys that we inherit from previous generations, along with the values and money messages that motivate our decision-making today, inform our mission, vision and strategies as donors, professionals, and changemakers. With support from the Fetzer Institute, Surdna Foundation, and the Joyce and Irving Goldman Family Foundation, we are exploring how embracing and integrating our sacred identities—racial, cultural, faith-based, spiritual, and ancestral—can deepen relationships with donors and grantees, inspiring more just and compassionate philanthropic outcomes.
Join 21/64 for an exclusive look into this work and hear from 21/64 Director, Andine Sutarjadi, in conversation with the 21/64 Certified Advisors of Color Program alumni, Janell Turner (Managing Director, Phila Engaged Giving), Kerri Lopez-Howell (Executive Director, Neighbor Company) and Kavell Brown (Senior Manager of Social Impact and Partnerships, LinkedIn). They will share how the program’s unique approach—integrating faith, spirituality, religious beliefs, and ancestral traditions alongside cultural and racial identities—has fostered a sense of belonging, empowered how they show up in professional and philanthropic spaces, and transformed their advising practices.
The gathering will also highlight sector leaders and 21/64 Certified Advisors of Color Program advocates, Rodney McKenzie Jr. (Vice President of Ally Development, Fetzer Institute) and Michael Balaoing (Board Member, 21/64 and Founder & CEO, Candlelion LLC.). Together, we hope to offer insights, stories and evidence on how embracing our identities in our philanthropic practice can lead to the cultivation of bridging capital that goes beyond transactional relationships among donors, grantees, and advisors, to spark and maintain long-term social change.
This session will take place on Zoom.
