Whitney Feld is the President of the Bissell Ballantyne Legacy Foundation, a private family foundation dedicated to long-term community impact through strategic philanthropy. Since stepping into this leadership role in 2023, Whitney has crafted the foundation’s mission, vision, and grantmaking framework, prioritizing meaningful partnerships over transactional giving. In addition, she established robust governance policies to ensure the foundation’s integrity and longevity. She also spearheaded the creation of “Foundations Forward,” a collaborative network that fosters best practices among large family foundations in the region.
Before leading the foundation, Whitney served as Lead Regulatory Relations Specialist at Wells Fargo, serving the Strategy, Digital, and Innovation team as they interacted with federal regulators. Prior to that, she spent six years at Foundation For The Carolinas (FFTC), where she advanced to Vice President, Philanthropic Advancement. At FFTC, she managed over $2 billion in assets, leading teams focused on personal philanthropy, planned giving, and family office partnerships. She worked directly with high-net-worth families and foundations to develop tailored strategies for legacy planning, multi-generational engagement, complex asset donations, grantmaking, and social impact investing.
Whitney spent a significant portion of her professional career in education. First as a Special Education teacher in a Title I school in Brooklyn, New York. And second as a professor and Director of Academic Success at the Charlotte School of Law. While in New York, Whitney earned a Master of Science in Teaching from Pace University. She also holds a Juris Doctorate from the Charleston School of Law, where she completed over 500 hours of pro bono legal service. Whitney is licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
A recognized leader in philanthropy and nonprofit governance, Whitney serves on multiple nonprofit boards. Personally, Whitney finds joy behind the camera, in the kitchen, and most of all, spending time with her husband and young son.
