Karen Hrdlicka, MBA, has spent most of her career in the non-profit environment as both a leader and mentor. Currently she works at the Akron Community Foundation where she leads the newly established Center for Family Philanthropy. The Center was established to provide customized consulting services to families with a philanthropic interest and provide education on strategic philanthropy opportunities in Summit County. Summit County has been her lifelong home growing up in Silver Lake and a graduate of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and Kent State University. She has extensive experience working with families through her work in the older adult arena helping families navigate care opportunities and financial strategies to care for people as they age. She continues her work with older adults as a member of the Mayor of Akron Older Adult Commission and the leader of the Employment pillar of Age Friendly Akron. She serves on several non-profit boards for organizations serving mental health, homelessness and senior housing. She is a member of the Akron Rotary. She volunteers in both a Widow Ministry and Door #2 which is an art studio where she puts her skills as a Recreational Therapist to work.
