Allison came to custom philanthropic advising from a career in grant seeking and grant making. Allison believes that when both the needs of the funder and the needs of the funded organization can both be met at the same time, philanthropy becomes its most abundant and productive, creating a virtuous cycle for giving. She seeks to understand the needs of both the client and those they wish to fund.
Allison has a specialty in capacity building, or enhancing the ability of an agency to perform its mission now and in the future. Donors with a particular strategic interest in strengthening organizations will find Allison’s experience as a Licensed Consult for the Standards of Excellence, her experience coaching agency leaders, and her time in nonprofits from museums to health and human service agencies all give her a unique perspective on how to make dollars as impactful as possible.
Allison provides a concierge-style service to clients and is available to meet at their convenience, including evenings and weekends in the location of their choice or via Zoom, conference call, phone call – whatever works for the client.
Allison is a native Washingtonian and a graduate of Harvard College, where she lived in Leverett House, one of her favorite places in the world. She chose the name Leverett Philanthropic Advising for her firm to keep all those good memories of long breakfast conversations in the dining hall alive.
