Nkemakonam Ejoh Carter

Senior Philanthropy Officer
Planned Parenthood

Currently in my role as Global Liaison at Planned Parenthood, I coordinate with the Executive Director, in-country Program Directors, donors and former Global Advisory Board Members, as a subject matter expert to ensure donor intent, cultural context and locally led solutions are aligned. My portfolio consists of family foundations, who are amidst transitioning wealth. We’re experiencing donor fatigue and I am working to build a donor of color pipeline, and prove that a human centered approach works for all donors.

I have a career-long track record of thinking about international development through a black-feminist lens, fundraising for national and international social issues, working closely with world leaders, scholars, and field experts, towards the goal of increasing capacity for equitable access to essential life sustaining resources.Over the years I have developed a human centric work style as a philanthropic advisor to high capacity principal donors. I use storytelling as a trust gaining device, and peer it with my cultural IQ and academic socio-political understanding of the lived experience of disenfranchised communities. This allows me to build deeper relationships with stakeholders, which helps me advise and direct multigenerational wealth to have multigenerational impact-led solutions.
