Consulting

Empowering families and professionals to connect, communicate, and collaborate across generations.

The largest wealth transfer in history is underway. But the real story isn’t about numbers. It’s about trust.

Whether wealth fuels connection, conflict, indecision or impact depends on how each generation learns to listen, lead, and decide together. With more than 20 years of experience as one of the first consulting practices to offer multigenerational family advising and next generation engagement, our legacy is helping others cultivate theirs—with clarity, intention, and impact.

We help families, individuals, and organizations navigate pivotal change and strengthen alignment across generations.

Our consulting practice offers our clients:

  • Guidance for succession planning, strategic direction, and leadership transitions
  • Facilitation for multigenerational family retreats and next gen engagement
  • Ongoing support to strengthen governance and deepen connection across generations

Our work blends practical strategy with personal insight to help our clients honor legacy, clarify vision, and turn meaningful conversations into action.

Our Approach

We believe success comes from helping people become more intentional with their financial, human, and philanthropic resources. Rather than using a “talking-head” presentation style or delivering a report that sits on a shelf, we partner with leaders to actively define challenges and plan solutions relative to the change that they are trying to put in place.

Three people stand talking in a modern indoor space with food and drinks behind them. A man in a light shirt gestures while speaking to two others, with digital screens and a red wall in the background.
Understand & Align

We begin by getting to know your people, your goals, and the dynamics at play. Through conversations and selective assessment tools, we build a shared picture of where you are and where you want to go.

A woman in a long patterned dress stands and raises her hand while speaking to a seated group in a classroom. Several audience members also raise their hands. A whiteboard with notes is visible in the background.
Listen & Reflect

Following our initial conversation, we’ll start learning about you, your family, or your organization through conversations and surveys, capture outcomes from the conversations and then share back what we heard.

A woman with gray hair stands beside a flip chart covered in notes, pointing to the paper during a presentation in a conference room. A projector screen and a closed door are visible in the background.
Codesign & Act

Together, we identify next steps, whether that’s introducing exercises, resources and, if applicable, our uniquely developed tools including our most popular tools Motivational Values® and Picture Your Legacy® to help move toward shared goals.

A group of people, including a smiling man and woman in the front, sit at tables in a brightly-lit room, attentively watching a presentation. A clock and various drink containers are visible in the background.
Review & Refine

We close the loop by reflecting on what worked and identifying next steps through an evaluation process, forecasting and recommendations.

A happy family of four sits closely together at home, smiling and laughing. The mother is in the center, hugging a young child, while the father leans in and an older child embraces both parents affectionately.
Entry

We will begin by listening first and having a conversation with you to clarify your purpose, objectives, and the collaborative process for our work together.

Several people work around a table with laptops, sticky notes, documents, and yellow cubes, collaborating in a modern office with large windows and a city skyline in the background.
Data Collection & Feedback

Following our initial entry stage, we’ll start learning about you, your family, or your organization through conversations and surveys, capture outcomes from the conversations and then share back what we heard.

Two people are having a discussion in a bright room. One is writing on a whiteboard while holding papers, and the other is facing them, listening attentively.
Action Planning & Intervention

Together, we identify next steps, whether that’s introducing exercises, resources and, if applicable, our uniquely developed tools including our most popular tools Motivational Values™ and Picture Your Legacy® to help move toward shared goals.

Evaluation

We close the loop by reflecting on what worked and identifying next steps through forecasting and recommendations.

Testimonials

"It’s never easy facilitating facilitators. I know for myself, and while facilitation feels natural to me, I have concerns on group dynamics, whether people will respond well to the material, whether folks will get the learning, etc. So if you had any of those kinds of concerns, I want to reassure you and say that I did not experience you leading from those concerns. I felt you all lead from your commitment to the work, to your plan and to providing us with the opportunity to grow, think newly or differently, and affirm what we know. Thank you."

“Our recent session with 21/64 offered donors a powerful opportunity to reflect on their personal values and how those values shape their philanthropic choices. The interactive experience sparked rich conversations and provided meaningful tools to guide giving with greater intention and clarity. At Aspen Community Foundation, we believe philanthropy is most impactful when it’s aligned with what matters most to each individual or family—and this session helped bring that belief to life.”

"Danielle’s interactive workshop for our professional advisor community on working through the generations was invaluable. By learning to benchmark their own values through the unique 21/64 tools, our professional advisors have been given a construct to work with their clients in thinking about philanthropy. Rose Community Foundation looks forward to bridging these important philanthropic conversations with professional advisors and their clients. Thank you, Danielle and 21/64!"

"Sharna facilitated a virtual gathering on intergenerational family philanthropy for our donor-advised fundholders. She shared updated findings on how next gen donor engagement, including how they are responding to the crises of 2020 through their giving and she facilitated a Picture Your Legacy exercise. We had five generations and 18 families represented on the Zoom and Sharna’s messages and facilitation engaged them all. Feedback was overwhelmingly and universally positive and the evening was a helpful and grounding pause in the midst of challenging times."

"I worked with the 21/64 staff to customize Picture Your Legacy. We added four distinct Bay Area images to the deck and branded the box with our logo. In addition, I included a card with our mission and in invitation to users to call on of the organization’s professional staff to assist with the exercise and/or with taking the outcomes from it to the next level. The customized decks were so popular, that at the first event, half of my new stash walked out the door with interested clients. There was incredible energy and discussion around the image cards among participants, and who else they wanted to try them with. Many have contacted me since to inquire about how best to use the tool, or if they can purchase them. I love that not only are the decks are so useful, but they are very popular and well received with clients and now have our logo and contact number on them. I highly recommend customization or anyone who regularly uses Picture Your Legacy."
