REVIEW:
This book by Israeli-American psychologist Daniel Kahneman explores his theory of the two systems of the brain. System 1, as he calls it, is our fast, automatic response mechanism and System 2 is our slow, analytical and deliberate mode. He presents multiple experiments and illustrates personal and business decision-making skills in an effort to start a conversation with the reader about the reasoning behind the way we think, and why we act a certain way when faced particular situations. He expands on the benefits of intuition and how sometimes intuition (a part of System 2) should not be trusted. He presents the benefits of slow thinking in our lives and how with awareness of the way your brain thinks and you will not be blindsided by your own impulses.
Kahneman is a renowned physiologist and economist, and the juxtaposition of his two fields make the book a practical and enriching book about how the mind works and what we can do to optimize our thinking.
