As leaders at 21/64, we have thought a lot about how will we use our power effectively, humbly and courageously - especially on racial justice.
Clients and colleagues tell us that they come to 21/64 to learn how to facilitate difficult conversations about topics such as wealth and privilege, legacy and next generation engagement, family dynamics and multigenerational decision making. And now in this moment of racial reckoning that is literally tearing at the fabric of our country, clients and colleagues are asking us how to facilitate difficult conversations about race.
While we don’t claim to be experts on racial justice, we do know about creating awareness, catalyzing courage, creating safe space, active listening, and framing and facilitating discussions on difficult topics. The founder of Courageous Conversations, Simon Greer and his colleague Elizabeth Stewart, plus the Nantucket Project will join 21/64 to bring this program to life. We are grateful for their collaboration and the 30 years of social justice, convening skills and lived experience as a person of color in America.
Courageous Conversations on Race and Leadership will unfold over 5 weeks. The journey commences with a screening of the film “American Neighbor: Courageous Conversations on Race". Subsequently we will meet weekly on Thursdays 2:30-5:00 PM ET from March 3 - March 31, 2022.
This training is designed for a small group to learn as a leaders and connect with peers. The purpose of this program is develop your skills and capacity to advance racial equity in your work and practice. Our goal is that you will leave this program with conviction, skills and a courage to lead into a more just and equitable world.
In addition to the film, we will also use never before released clips from the American Neighbor journey to deepen our discussions during the five weeks. In addition, we will use 21/64 frameworks and tools, courageous conversations methodologies and practice your skills. We’ll deliver this in a way you are accustomed to at 21/64, with attention to content and process, tough on ideas, soft people, and support so you’ll be able to take these new skills and techniques and apply them as you facilitate difficult conversations in your organizations, networks and circles of influence.
This is a come-as-you-are encounter. You don’t need to have any specific point of view or position on racial justice and equity, just an openness to learning, sharing and engaging. Humility, courage and curiosity are a plus!

Pre-work and Between Sessions:
We will share some independent work, readings, and videos to prepare for the training.
Light work will be assigned between sessions.
You will receive pre-training details both electronically and in hard copy. Agenda, bios, pre-reading, a technical guide for joining virtually, and additional logistics will be shared on our virtual platform 21/64 Connect. The hard copy tools you'll use during the training will be shipped to the address input below.

Shipping and handling for tools may be billed separately for attendees outside the United States.
Space is limited and training is filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Please note registration closes Thursday, February 17, 2022.
Cancellation and Make-ups
We understand life happens. If you cancel more than 60 days prior to the training, your registration will be refunded in full. All cancellations within 60 days are non-refundable. We will try to take into account any extenuating circumstances that result in cancellation and may allow your fee to be applied to a future training within 12 months. We cannot guarantee fee postponement beyond 12 months of the originally planned training.
All training sessions are live learning and are not be available as recorded sessions for make-ups. In addition to the live facilitation in the main room there is small group work in breakout sessions that cannot be recorded. Please plan on attending all sessions for the full duration. If you miss a session, we’ll do our best to share what was covered but cannot guarantee personal make-up sessions.
