21/64 is an independent nonprofit practice providing multigenerational advising, facilitation and training for next generation engagement.

Courageous Conversations on Race and Leadership

Leading productive conversations about race is critical to the growth of healthy families, institutions, and societies. But for many reasons, the topic of race can feel difficult to broach. Courageous Conversations on Race and Leadership is designed for leaders who want to develop the capacity and the skills to lead in diverse settings. Throughout this program, participants experience and explore ways to generate awareness, catalyze courage, create brave space, use active listening, and facilitate discussions on difficult topics. Attendees will learn skills to advance racial equity in their work and practice, and develop the courage to lead into a more just and equitable world.

The journey commences with a screening and discussion of the film “American Neighbor: Courageous Conversations on Race." We then continue to meet, deepening the conversation each week through facilitated dialogue and group exercises, 21/64 frameworks and tools, and never before released clips from the American Neighbor journey. Program faculty includes 21/64 leadership, the founder of Courageous Conversations Simon Greer, and his colleague Tina Grace. We are grateful for their collaboration and the 30 years of social justice, convening skills and lived experience they bring to this program.

This is a come-as-you-are encounter. You are not required to have a specific point of view or position on racial justice and equity, just an openness to learn, share, and engage. We've designed this training to allow for meaningful interaction among a small cohort of peers.

Next Training Date: Weekly, April 14 - May 12, 2023

Participants should plan for a combination of live learning on screen, small group participant discussion, and independent work before and between sessions.

Live Learning:
To be determined. Stay tuned for the announcement of the next date.

Pre-work and Between Sessions:
We will share some independent work, readings, and videos to prepare for the training.
Light work will be assigned between sessions.

Materials
You will receive pre-training details electronically including agenda, bios, pre-reading, and additional logistics via our virtual platform 21/64 Connect.

Payment and Fees
Fees: Tuition includes the training and materials.

Registration: $1,900

Cancellation and Make-ups
We understand life happens. If you cancel more than 60 days prior to the training, your registration will be refunded in full. All cancellations within 60 days are non-refundable. We will try to take into account any extenuating circumstances that result in cancellation and may allow your fee to be applied to a future training within 12 months. We cannot guarantee fee postponement beyond 12 months of the originally planned training.

All training sessions are live learning and are not be available as recorded sessions for make-ups. In addition to the live facilitation in the main room there is small group work in breakout sessions that cannot be recorded. Please plan on attending all sessions for the full duration. If you miss a session, we’ll do our best to share what was covered but cannot guarantee personal make-up sessions.
