Connecting Wealth & Privilege to Purpose
Recently, we have had discussions with many of you who have been struggling as turbulent times have made privilege—of wealth, health, community, employment, race, and more—increasingly apparent. Many next gen donors feel guilt that their wealth is a privilege, especially when so many are struggling to meet basic needs; while older generations, particularly those who have made the wealth, don’t see privilege through the same lens. Some of you are advisors, in service to your clients and seeking to help those feeling stuck by their privilege. It has become increasingly clear that the zeitgeist around acknowledging, understanding and leveraging privilege towards positive change has gained momentum.
In this 90-minute workshop, we will consider how to use what we have towards greater purpose and meaning.
Purpose: To explore how wealth and privilege can be channeled to create a meaningful legacy.
Objectives:
- Examine what wealth and privilege mean to you.
- Identify the messages you were given about your resources.
- Clarify the messages you aspire to live by.
- Explore how wealth can contribute meaning to your life's purpose.
