Born to Holocaust survivors, Lisa is a native San Franciscan. She went to Lowell High School and UC Berkeley where she graduated in 1991 with a BA in Political Science.
In 1995 she received a double Masters degree from Brandeis University (Waltham, MA) in Jewish Communal Service and Human Services Management. She was a FEREP (Federation Education and Executive Recruitment Program) scholarship recipient.
Upon graduation, Lisa started her professional fundraising career with the San Francisco Jewish Community Federation as the Young Adults Division (YAD) Director working with people under 40 to build and maintain a vibrant community of philanthropic young adults. Lisa held Director level positions including Director of Leadership Development and the inaugural BLC (Business Leadership Council) Director. In 2003 Lisa was awarded the Staff Person of the Year Award by the SF Jewish Community Federation.
In April of 2006, Lisa became the Executive Director of The Jewish Community Foundation. Located in Berkeley, CA The Jewish Community Foundation has approximately $125 million in assets under management which comprises 11 Family Foundations, 132 Donor Advised Funds and over 60 special interest endowments that support all areas of the Jewish community. Every day provides a new challenge to engage a potential Jewish philanthropist in making the Jewish community stronger and more vibrant.
Extra-curricular activities that Lisa enjoys are yoga, cycling, baking and international travel. Lisa lives in Oakland, is married to Jeffrey Lipsett and they have a son Aryeh.
