Barb Gelb has enjoyed her career in Jewish Non-Profit Management for 31 years, working in synagogues, federations, Hillel, JCC and Jewish camps. Passionate about philanthropy and the opportunity to make an impact on the community, she joined the Tidewater Jewish Foundation team as Director of Philanthropy in 2017 after moving to Virginia Beach.
Barb was born in Scranton, PA and spent her high school years in Laramie, Wyoming before heading to Los Angeles to attend UCLA where she received her BA in Psychology. A Wexner Graduate Fellow, she received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from University of Southern California (USC) and her Master’s Degree in Jewish Non-Profit Management from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR). She will become a Doctor in Jewish Non-Profit Management, honoris causa, in May of 2018. Barb is married to Kenny Weinstein and enjoys spending time with him and their five children and stepchildren. She enjoys cooking, nutrition, fitness and theater.
