Whitney (she/her) is a Vice President at Third Plateau Social Impact Strategies (Third Plateau), where she supports a number of individual, family, and institutional philanthropists to help them be more strategic and effective in their work. She also drives the firm’s overall learning practice, leading the internal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team and helping make connections across service offerings in strategy, research, leadership development, philanthropic advising, operations, and finance. As a seasoned generalist and one of the first outside hires at Third Plateau, Whitney consistently pushes the team to strive for excellence in our work by leading processes and producing deliverables that drive meaningful social change. To do this, she connects high quality and accessible research to decision-making, leads engaging and inclusive processes to create data-informed strategies, and brings them to life through people and process management that center impact and authentic relationships.
Prior to Third Plateau Whitney received her Master’s of International Affairs at U.C. San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy, where she focused on International Development and Nonprofit Management with a regional specialization in Latin America. Whitney also spent two years living in Nicaragua, where she did an internship at a microfinance organization, taught Spanish, and ran an international internship program focused on asset-based community development through the Foundation for Sustainable Development. Whitney currently sits on the board of directors for Instituto Familiar de la Raza, a San Francisco-based nonprofit that promotes the health and well-being of Chicanos/Latinos and multicultural/multiracial youth. As a white, cis-gender woman, Whitney is committed to centering equity and anti-racism in her work and leveraging her privilege to support organizations that are led-by and serving Black, Indigenous, and people of color that have been and continue to be systemically disenfranchised.
Whitney grew up in Northern California (Sebastopol, to be exact) and currently lives in Oakland with her husband Eduardo, where she enjoys hanging out with friends and their babies, seeing live music, eating good food, playing tennis, and running (or sitting) around Lake Merritt.
