I am an independent philanthropic advisor with more than 30 years of experience working for educational and social service nonprofits in Oregon. My goal is to help families and foundations move resources sooner rather than later to nonprofits working with under-resourced communities. I coach families in using “money as medicine,” facilitate philanthropy discussions framed within purpose, outcome, and process, and help clients find joy in giving by creating values-based philanthropic plans. In addition to philanthropic advising, I work with high net-worth individuals as the senior development officer for SMART Reading, Oregon’s largest children’s literacy nonprofit. I invested 14 years at Lewis & Clark College in planned giving and major gifts; was a fundraising consultant for hundreds of nonprofits in Oregon; and have found joy, solidarity, and purpose by working with children and families afflicted with poverty.
