Long Bio

Jean grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota where she learned first-hand the positive impact of charitable giving when she received a family foundation scholarship that allowed her to attend college. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, Jean began her career working in corporate philanthropy for The St. Paul Companies, now Travelers.

Over the past three decades, Jean has held leadership positions within or provided consulting services to a broad range of organizations and family offices, including The Pohlad Family Foundation, Piper Jaffray Companies’ Wealth Management group where she was Senior Philanthropic Advisor, and the Horst Rechelbacher Foundation where she most recently served as Managing Director.

An innovator and collaborator, Jean helped create the Family Philanthropy Resource Center within The Minneapolis Foundation and established strategic partnerships between the community foundation and various wealth management firms to better serve their philanthropic clients.

Using her extensive professional training and strong skills as a facilitator, Jean specializes in working with philanthropic individuals, families, and boards to create or clarify their goals and strategies. Known for her creativity and attention to detail, Jean provides philanthropists with assistance they need to ensure their vision and goals are achieved in ways that are both meaningful to them and impactful in the community.

Jean lives in South Minneapolis with her husband, David, and enjoys the many beautiful trails along the Mississippi River Gorge and surrounding area. She volunteers with a number of organizations committed to environmental conservation and other causes, including the Minneapolis Parks Foundation and Literacy Minnesota.

Jean is continually inspired by the generosity of others and remains guided in her work by her early experience as a beneficiary of charitable giving.
