Gwen Wurst has spent her entire career in the nonprofit sector, working with and for community in fundraising, program development, and philanthropic advising positions. She currently serves as a Program Officer for the J.R. Albert Foundation. The Foundation is committed to supporting organizations that create and protect healthy food systems in the Midwest. Gwen joined the Foundation in 2023 and is based in Kansas City.
Previously, Gwen served as a Senior Philanthropic Adviser at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation working alongside donors to help them craft and carry out their philanthropic missions. Through this work she helped families and foundation directors explore and identify their shared values, priorities, and intentions.
Gwen earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in
Communications at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. She lives in Kansas City with her partner, two children, two dogs and many plants.
