Convene
21/64 serves as a neutral convener, allowing next generation family members to explore questions of identity, responsibility and opportunity among their peers, as well as intergenerational groups to fund collaboratively.
| An annual opportunity to meet with your peers, aged 18 to 35, who are involved in family foundations or are preparing for future involvement. Start building relationships with others exploring complex questions of responsibility, opportunity, and family legacy. Through interactive exercises, participants will begin to clarify their values and philanthropic identity and to explore their visions and strategies for funding. Consider attending with other family members – siblings, cousins, partners – for candid conversation in a safe space. |

The retreat is led by Sharna Goldseker, director of 21/64 (a division of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies), and Stephanie Yang, donor education coordinator of Resource Generation. Both facilitators are young professionals who also participate in their families’ philanthropy. For more information on the next retreat, call Sharna at 212/931-0109. Registration will be conducted by the Council on Foundations at www.cof.org.

21/64 facilitates a network of next-generation family members (ages 18-28) who are involved or will be involved in their family philanthropy one day. Participants often feel respect for their inherited family legacy but are unsure about finding their own place in the multigenerational family context. Grand Street allows participants to explore these questions of identity, responsibility and opportunity in a safe space among peers.
21/64 helps participants in the network to organize an annual national gathering, facilitating sessions with tools to learn more about family history, values clarification, and open space discussions generated by participants and including an individual's role on family foundation boards, issues of wealth, how to create a giving plan, etc. Members may then self-facilitate events based on timely issues and interests.
